Lucy Stapleton Hawkins, 90, died peacefully on September 6, 2017. Lucy was born in Dothan, Alabama in 1927 and married Claude Beveley Hawkins, Jr. in 1950. She was a graduate of Florida State University where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Lucy was an accountant for several companies over the years as well as a realtor for Watson Realty. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church, where she enjoyed spending Sundays worshipping and then onto lunch with friends.
Lucy will be best remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother...

Lucy Stapleton Hawkins, 90, died peacefully on September 6, 2017. Lucy was born in Dothan, Alabama in 1927 and married Claude Beveley Hawkins, Jr. in 1950. She was a graduate of Florida State University where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Lucy was an accountant for several companies over the years as well as a realtor for Watson Realty. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church, where she enjoyed spending Sundays worshipping and then onto lunch with friends.
Lucy will be best remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed reading, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. Sunday dinners at Lucy's house were filled with love and fellowship among family.
Lucy is survived by two children, Claudia Joseph and Kevin (Ann) Hawkins. Lucy also has four grandchildren: Tyler (Lindsay) and Bryant Joseph, Griffin and Graham Hawkins, and a great grandchild Harrison Joseph. She was predeceased by her husband, Claude, her parents S.A. (Bill) and Lucy Mae Stapleton, and son-in-law Gary Joseph.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30am on Wednesday September 20, 2017 at Southside Baptist Church, 1435 Atlantic Blvd., Jacksonville FL 32207. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make memorials to the Alzheimer Association, the Northeast Florida Community Hospice Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
