Sara Elizabeth Marvin Powers, 91, of Jacksonville, Florida went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 14, 2017.

Sara was born on November 26, 1925, in Beaufort, South Carolina to James and Annabelle Marvin, Sr. and moved to Jacksonville as a young adult.

She quickly discovered her love for bookkeeping, which lead to a long career in the automotive industry. At the age of 51, Sara started her own accounting firm - a great display of her feisty independent streak.

She served the community for many years not only through her business, but also through her involvement with various Arlington churches. Sara's love for her family knew no bounds, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandsons.

She lived a life filled with love for the Lord Jesus Christ and for anyone her life touched. This was most noticeable in her characteristic generosity and self-sacrifice towards family, friends, and strangers alike.

Sara is preceded in death by her parents, James and Annabelle, brother Bernard Marvin, and sister Eugenia Small.
She leaves loving memories to be cherished by her daughter Cynthia Brown; grandsons Stephen Brown, Chris (Leilia) Brown, Scott (Sarah) Brown, and Chase Brown; great-grandchildren Bryce and Corbin Brown, and Silas, Oliver, and Elizabeth Brown; sister Cynthia Harvey; and a large, extended family.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Woodland Grove Health and Rehabilitation, as well as to Larissa and her fellow caregivers at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, for their outstanding care and support for Sara over the last several years.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Cemetery at 4300 Beach Blvd.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) or to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida (www.communityhospice.com/give).
